Mills bought the plane tickets through Casey's girlfriend, which, of course, meant that word of his trip got back to Casey and the rest of the guys.
"She's just a friend visiting from Alaska. She'd never been to DC before and I thought I'd escort her."
Bernie laughs at his terminology. "Where did you meet this girl, anyway, Bryan? Online?"
Mills shakes his head and laughs, sipping on his beer. "Nah, at the bar believe it or not. Which is odd now that I think about it because she can't be much older than Kimmie. I think she's in town to stay with her uncle for awhile.
"Anyway, she sounded like she needed a vacation. And it's cherry blossom season."
The guys all "oooOOOOooooo" in unison over that.
"Shut the fuck up and eat your steak before it gets cold," Mills says, grinning and blushing a little.

Mills' door from Milliways empties onto a fairly decent alleyway off Ventura Blvd. There's a few neon signs and the spring night is just shy of warm. Someone is playing a saxophone badly at the end of the alley, and someone's dog barks from a parked car.
"Our flight doesn't leave for a few hours. Do you want to stop and eat something before we go?"
He left room in the itinerary for her to adjust to his world, and give her time to make up her mind on a final go-no go.
