On Contacts

I've worn contacts since 7th grade. After a couple years of soft, daily wear contacts (the non-disposable kind that come in a vial), I switched to 1-2 week disposables. This was a great boon for the young partial_reality, who lost contacts at a rate comparable to that which other teens lost their virginity ( Read more... )

Have you tried contacts lately? The new technology really is superior to the old. Next time you are at the eye doctor, you might just want to see about getting a trial pair of the Oasys to see if it works for you at all. I do remember when I first got contacts (way back when), I was pretty miserable for 2 weeks straight. It took at least a month to truly start to feel comfortable with them. I think the adoption period is shorter now for most people with the improved lens materials (or maybe I'm just extra sensitive).

Lasik sounds interesting to me, but I'm pretty satisfied with the results I get with contacts. I'm in no rush to get surgery when I know Lasik technology will just get better and safer as the years go on.

I've been using the Oasys for a few months now. With my other contacts, my eyes kept getting dry, and I heard they came out with a silicon based contact lens. I went to my eye doctor and got a pair immediately. A few months later, I'm still enjoying them. I got them pretty reasonably with 1800-Contacts and the rebate. I now have a PLETHORA of opened boxes. (I had to send in the tops)

Good to know they've worked out for you. I use 1-800 Contacts too. With their rebates, they seem to give the best deals.
