They're not even trying anymore with rom-coms, are they?
I saw ad poster for the movie Love Happens today. This was my thought process/reaction to it:
- There's not even a hint as to what's different/special/unique/interesting about this movie. It's just "hi! here are two pretty blond people, and they're in love!" What's the hook? Maybe they're being honest about it and that there probably is no actual plot.
- Oh hey, wait, it's Jennifer Aniston. Hmm, Friends nostalgia will not sway me to go out of my way to see this movie. Who's the guy? Aaron Eckhart? Why does that name ring a bell?
- Oh wait! I know who Aaron Eckhart is, he played Harvey Dent!
- Oh shit, now I know what the hook is...
- "RAAAAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYY-CHHHUUULLLLLLLL!!!!"

ETA: And in what world does Aaron Eckhart get higher billing than Jennifer Aniston? I mean, yeah yeah, Dark Knight, big success, yada yada. But Jennifer Aniston is a much more recognizable name and face. Shenanigans, man.
