If she lives right by York, I don't think she'd be in any danger. To give you an idea of the distance, the southernmost part of York is on Finch Ave, and the distance between Finch and Wilson is the equivalent of two subway stops, and it's south of the 401 highway. So it's close, but it's not next-door close.
From I've heard some people were told to evacuate the area, but the only fatality was a firefighter this morning.
Jeez it's not safe to live in Canada anymore is it?
The thing that gets me is that there are other places like that in the north end of the city...there's big oil containers along Finch, too. When they were built everything in the area was just farmland or unused so in theory they wouldn't be any danger, but since then the city/suburbs have grown up around them.
