Today was very very good. Definitely a happy Christmas time. I love this time of year... but who doesn't?

This year I am especially thankful for I think four things.

Number one... the SNOW. In Houston. And the perfect timing of Christmas Eve. I heard they got 8 inches in Lubbock... wish it would have waited for us to get back! But it'll come again I'm sure. I like snow. A lot. It brings back so many happy memories of Michigan. I hope to spend some real time in Michigan within the next few years and get to see multiple feet of snow again. I think that next year I would rather not receive any Christmas gifts and spend Christmas in Michigan with my grandparents and aunts and uncles and cousins than get lots of stuff and be away from my family for a 7th year in a row. But anyway... haha... getting off track... I'm so excited that it snowed this evening! Josh says in the morning there is supposed to be 3-5 inches on the ground south of I-10. Too bad I live way up here. Haha.

Number two... my house. I love it when my mom decorates it all cute for Christmas. And my Christmas tree... even though its fake I think it's beautiful. This is the first year we've ever put just white lights on it. We always have color lights. But I love the white lights. And 2/3 of the ornaments on there belong to me and my sister and it's full of nice memories. Being away at college and having a real visit at home makes me realize how nice my life is. Like how much my parents put into making a nice home for us to live in. And how much effort my mom puts into making nice Christmas/Christmas Eve dinners for us. Tonight we had fettucine alfredo and shrimp scampi and green beans and caesar salad. So good! Tomorrow I think she's baking a ham. Yum. My mom wins.

Number three... my church. The sanctuary is decorately so beautifully. It totally feels like home at church and I love it. I went to the contemporary service tonight because my dad plays bass guitar in the band. Kristen and another lady (I forgot her name) sang a duet of "O Holy Night" and it was one of the most beautiful things I've ever heard. If you go to Kinsmen but didn't go to the contemporary service, you missed out. Hahah. It was so amazing. I seriously think that Kristen might be one of the best people, if not the best person, in the whole world. Anyway, so yes, church was really awesome.

Number four... not being in the hospital! Last year I was in the hospital almost all day on Christmas Eve, spent the night there, and woke up alone on Christmas morning in a bed with rails on the sides. If you don't know what was wrong with me... it wasn't that big of a deal. If you go a year back in my journal you can read all about it. Haha. But I had to miss out on going to church and I was even supposed to play my flute with the band that night for the Christmas songs. And because of me the Parr family tradition of church/presents/food didn't happen on Christmas Eve like it usually did. I mean, things turned out okay, we just pushed everything back a day (except for church). Just wasn't the same though... didn't feel like Christmas. So this year I am totally thankful for the health of me and my family.

I hope everyone's holidays are going well. No matter what's going on in your life right now, good or bad, I hope you remember why we celebrate this holiday.
