School...blah

So I haven't posted an update in over a month so I thought it was time.

Really all I do is go to school and study. I have a little free time where I try to get in my Facebook and Shelfari sites as they are my favs, as well as reading a book for fun. But it's not a lot and when I have breaks at school I try to keep up with Facebook on my phone.

Last week was rough. I had a test every day but Thursday. This week has been much better but I have so much to learn for next week's tests. Two on Monday and one on Wednesday. UGH.

I learned how to take pulse (well I kind of knew that already but I do it the way they teach it), respirations, and blood pressure. I was so nervous about the blood pressure because when the teacher was explaining it, it sounded so complicated. It really isn't that bad though. So I got checked off on all that stuff as well as my temps. I was floored at how many people don't know how to read a regular old mercury thermometer. That is the only kind I have ever used so it was easy to get checked off on that. Oh and I got checked off on bedmaking. You would be surprised how hard it is to do it the right way in under 7 minutes, which is what is required. But after practicing about 10 times I finally got it.

There are some people in class that get on my nerves but there are some people I really like. We will all go through this together as long as we pass everything. If you don't get at least a C in every class which is an 80, you can't go on and you have to take the level over. That is what one girl in my class had to do. She got A's in everything but Anatomy which she only missed the 80 by 2 points and she had to TAKE EVERYTHING OVER. I think that is ridiculous. I mean I can understand them making her wait to advance and take the one class over, but to make her do everything? I just hope I pass everything for that reason, so I can stay with my class, and because now each class has a scrub color and I will have to buy a whole other color if I don't. The school has a stupid uniform policy now. No more wearing jeans and a T-shirt. If you aren't in clinicals in your white uniform, you have to wear your colored scrubs to class. Oh well.

Anyway, the girl I was talking about above, her name is Hollie. I really like her. I hope we get to be good friends. We eat lunch together everyday we are there together. Well I guess that is all for now.
