Gideon broken leg update.

It's been 9 days since I broke my cockatiel's tibia, and the little guy is doing great! He had his last Baytril shot yesterday and has been getting more energy as the days go on. He's eating and drinking regularly. He naps more than normal but he gets worn out hobbling around. But he pecks in the forage box and flies around and is otherwise normal.

His missing tail and leg cast are making his flight aiming harder. It took him several days to attempt to land on the floor. I imagine it's weird when your brake is totally gone :/ But he can still land on my shoulder.

I've set up my desk on the floor and it's not been a problem and my workflow isn't hampered, it's pretty cozy.

The one thing that stinks is that he'll probably have to stay in his recuperacoop (padded box) until his stint comes off in 3 weeks, since he cannot climb in the big cage. The vet said he'd be able stay in the normal cage after a few days, but he can't climb the metal railings of the sides of the cage without his other foot. Missing his tail makes it harder too. He prefers laying on his stomach while he rests so having flat surfaces is necessary. He's out for several hours every day so he's not in the box the entire time, but it still stinks. I tried putting some fabric on the wall of the cage to see if he could climb it but he didn't try it, but I may try that again.

Here's Mr. Naked Butt on the warm fluorescent light cage of one of his neighbors, a veiled chameleon. (The cham doesn't mind.)
