Quick question. Birds are not supposed to taste the heat in hot peppers, right?
For my boyfriend's dinner he cut up some obscenely hot habaneros (fresh picked from the plant I grew) and he gave a sliver to Gideon, my cockatiel. Gid bit in to it shook his head, like "whoa"! He kept taking bites of it and then shaking his head. I had a sweet bell pepper for him as well which he did not react to. To me that looks like he tasted the heat, but I guess it could be that the non-heat taste was really weird, but I doubt habaneros taste that much different than other peppers.
Has anyone had their parrots maybe react to hot peppers?
