Two entirely unrelated things...

1. Travel carriers - I've got a Moluccan cockatoo, a sun conure, and a severe macaw, and all three of them will be driving with me from upstate NY to DC at the beginning of June (about a seven hour drive). Do you think they'd be ok in those plastic cat carriers for the trip, or should I invest in travel cages? If necessary, any suggestions on a travel cage for a can opener beaked Moluccan who can and will undo any and all latches she can get to? I'm thinking about just shutting her up in one of those Rubbermaid totes since it should also help dampen the noise (kidding, I swear...!)!

Will they be ok for the whole trip (we won't be stopping except for bathroom breaks) or should we attempt to let the 'too and macaw stretch their wings at some point (even just taking them out of the cages while in the car)?

Do you think giving them fruit for the trip will provide them with enough water or should we offer them water during our stops? They'll all drink from cups so it wouldn't be too hard; I just don't want to open the carrier doors anymore than I need to. =/

I'm mostly worried about taking the conure out as he can (and will) fly, and could be difficult to catch if he got loose in the car and didn't want to be caught.

2. Anyone else see Rio yet? What did you think? I was a little upset that they showed a bird drinking hot chocolate and birds eating from a person's mouth, but other than that it was really cute. Blu walking around reminded me a lot of my severe. I think they did a really good job capturing bird movement and behavior.
