Is there any risk of a pet bird getting disease or parasites from being near, but not in contact with, wild birds?
I ask this because I live on an upper floor so my bird feeders have to be hung from a small balcony close to a glass/screen door. Now that it's getting warmer out we're opening the the glass door to the balcony and letting the air in. Me and my cockatiel hang out a lot in this room. The wild birds are right there. The feeders are busy all day. (
I made the finch feeder )
They can't like, fling mites through the screen or anything, can they?
I found the USDA page for
biosecurity of pet birds.
