Clancy the CAG is somewhat civilized about it, but Giles the BCC is downright demanding when we're eating. He wants some of whatever his flock is enjoying, and he wants it *now!* I've never had an animal so demanding of food, and that includes our dogs and cats I don't know where he puts it ... he's only about the size of a cockatiel.
We share sometimes, but not always (we're careful about what we think he can and shouldn't have). And sometimes, he just *takes* ... when my mother has her grapefruit juice in the mornings, he helps himself. He loves his own food, he gets into the CAG's and the Quaker's cages and food, he wants a taste of anything anyone else is eating ... I think he'd eat rusty nails if he thought we were.
We speculate that his previous owner, who was neglectful, may have sometimes forgotten to feed him at all (we know he had never had fresh food and greens in the ten years before he came to us), and that may contribute to his behaviour. But still, it's weird to have a bird who begs so much.
Does anyone else have a bird with tapeworm symptoms? Is this normal for some birds? The vet pronounces Giles to be in perfect health.
