Hi all,
Last week I took my 7 year old lovie, Angel, to the vet's for redding feathers, lethargy, and droopy wings and he basically confirmed my suspicions that she was having liver problems. She's doing alright now - once in a while, she'll look a bit tired, but lately I've been waking her at night to give her medicine - overall she's still feisty, vocal, alert, has a great appetite, and still forages like a little beast. This vet is over an hour away (there are other vets within my area, but none will see avians and the one that saw my last lovie for similar symptoms, while I'm sure he's an excellent exotic mammal vet, didn't know jack about birds) so since then, I've been communicating with a pet health consultant via their online pet owner's portal.
Right now little Angel is on Baytril and a supplement powder along with her pellets, sprouted seeds, and veggies, but I've asked if the vet or anyone else at the clinic knew anything about the Roudybush prescription pellets. He had to do some research on the formula so I'm to discuss Angel's diet tomorrow but I'm wondering:
Has anyone fed Roudybush's liver diet to their parrots? How was it fed to them? Were there supplementary pellets, like other brands involved? What kinds of changes were noted once the diet was changed? What else can anyone recommend for parrots with liver disease?
Little Angel-face says thanks! (hoping the images show; they're hotlinked from Facebook ;))
