So, I got a call from the vet's office today. The stool sample and gram stain tests came back negative, which is actually bad. This means it's not a simple infection that can be treated with antibiotics.
My vet will be in on Saturday, and if Tristan's poops aren't back to normal, he'll be having an x-ray and blood test done. I'm also going to ask if they can test for PDD at that point. I'm hoping that maybe it's a bowel obstruction of some kind, because surgery is preferable to an incurable disease. The clinic is also willing to set up a payment plan for any treatment, so if it gets too expensive, money won't be as big as an issue. I don't want to think of the possibility of Tristan dying a slow, painful, lonely death. I also don't want to think of euthanizing such a young bird.
Send my stumpy-butt happy thoughts!
