I just discovered today that the calzone maker my mom and stepdad have is coated with Teflon. They've had it since December and use it almost religiously.
Obviously, this is a problem.
In the house, though, the kitchen is at one end while my bedroom is at the other, but the house isn't huge. This worries me. The whole kitchen/living room area doesn't have fantastic ventilation but we have windows open and fans running 24/7. My bedroom has 3 windows, each on one wall, and a fan [sometimes 2] that we have running. There are 2 doors separating the kitchen/living room from my room, which are usually kept shut. But I'm still worried because my mom doesn't want to give up her calzone cooker and thinks that "the Teflon shouldn't hurt the bird because I've had birds and used Teflon before" [very, very stupid].
Am I overreacting? We've had a total of 11 chicks [as in chickens, not parrot chicks of course] in the house [at separate times since they're different ages] and they haven't reacted to the cookware. I read that it's only really lethal when it hits a certain temperature, but how credible is that?
Can I get some Teflon experts in here?
