Guide to a Well-Behaved Parrot by Mattie Sue Athan
Guide to Senegal Parrot and Its Family by Mattie Sue Athan, Dianalee Deter, Susan Green
The Conure by Julie Rach
Conures by Tony Silva & Barbara Kotlar - This is from 1980 & so it's not so great. They have the ideal conure cage as a thin round thing I wouldn't put a fly in.
The Parrot Who Owns Me : The Story of a Relationship by Joanna Burger
The Wild Parrots of Telegraph Hill : A Love Story . . .with Wings by Mark Bittner (love this book)
Bird Talk & Companion Parrot Quarterly - Some of both
Enslaved By Ducks by Bob Tarte (not fully about parrots - great book)
Video- An awesome dvd I got off ebay called "Birds" (It was a BBC series I think) with 2 parts Program 1: Extraordinary Birds Program 2: Look Who's Talking
The Wild Parrots of Telegraph Hill (at the movies)
There are so many books I'd still love to have. I've read several basic care books on different parrots, but don't own any of those. I've gotten something out of all the books I've read, even the 80's one at least gave me some laughs. I'm feeling too lazy to review them all. I pretty much get Bird Talk because it's at the grocery store & I like the pictures. Most of the info I have benefited from since I got parrots was from this community & from various websites.

I love theold crappy books. They show how far we've come in such a short period of time and I think that's really awesome. Plus there's the laugh value. I also saw a video on how to take care of birds, but I can't remember what it was called. It was highly amusing. "See, there are these *new* things called pellets!"
I think I saw that DVD too. I checked it out from the library. It was beautiful.

The Rach book isn't half bad. It got sent to me as a gift from a non bird person & I expected it to suck, but aside from some minor differences of opinion, it was really decent enough as a basic starter book. The section on biting could have definitely been longer & less simple, though I'm only thinking that because I've gotten bit about 800 times this morning simply for trying to enjoy an apple.
