Obscure Hotties #35, And More!

Jan 24, 2007 12:38

I've been a bit lazy with my updates recently, so I thought I'd give you a right old smorgasboard of fun. Later on tonight, I'll be replying to e-mails, comments and everyone else's journals, but first off, it's Obscure Hotties #35.

Mitsou Gélinas is a Canadian singer and actor, notable for her debut single 'Bye Bye Mon Cowboy' (no, really, that was the title) and her banned video for 'Dis-Moi Dis-Moi'. She has acted in Denys Arcand's inexplicably overrated film The Barbarian Invasions and she hosted a chat show - Too Much 4 Much - in which she screened and discussed controversial music videos with a panel.

Nice, eh? Here's some other things that have amused me recently; some enterprising soul on YouTube collects the most rib-ticklingly hilarious scenes from Neil LaBute's doomed-from-the-start remake of The Wicker Man; I like it when remakes go like this, because at least there's no chance of some spod saying they're better than the original. Which Matt Groening character does Nicolas Cage remind you of most in these scenes? I think there's a bit of Richard Nixon's Head in there, and a bit of Professor Frink.

And quote of the week goes to Opus Dei spokesman Jack Valero, who, complaining about a negative portrayal of the group on BBC One's Waking the Dead, said:

"Members of Opus Dei are Catholics, they are not going around killing people, having sex with married people and making money."

Er, quite. More later!
