Futile to argue about what the meaning of Christmas, in a traditional sense, is - is it a Christian holiday, a co-opted pagan one, something to do with throwing reindeer guts at stuttering children? - because history means nothing if the ideas being represented can’t stand on their own two feet. It is all part of their 'war on pc', whatever that means. It is basically the centre of their year long programme to return America and the UK to a time when wog and fag jokes were funny and towel-head was the only fit description for anyone who looked vaguely 'arab'.
Still, these motherfuckers wouldn't know a real christian - like my dad, for example - if it bit them on the ass. Surely Jesus, if indeed there was really a historical figure Jesus, would have kicked them in the nuts and thrown them from the temple.
Anyway, I am having a nice day here (despite not being a christian, i still value a day on which, as bill murray says in scrooged, we behave like the people we wished we could be all year round. For example, me being cheery - shock, horror. Having my family around - ditto. And making sure I make a considerable charitable donation, etc. All very dickensian and suburban but still, you could do worse. The rest of the year, I prefer a more radical approach.
Got some nice stuff from Laura too. I am just listening to the excellent soundtrack from Kung Fu Hustle and loving it - beautiful music. Also got the soundtrack to You and Me and Everyone We Know. Very Jon Brion-esque indeed!
Have fun!:)

The most weaselly, mush-mouthed, cowardly euphemism in use today is "fearlessly un-PC". When you hear that, you know that it actually means "vile, mean-spirited, cowardly bully".
Your Christmas sounds fab. I'm here drinking and watching episodes of Ripping Yarns and Curb Your Enthusiasm with my granddad, and I'm seeing friends tomorrow. I hope everyone else's Christmas is at least as good as mine!
