It's... Graham's Christmas Quiz!

Dec 23, 2006 18:26

We're nearing the end of what's been, politically, a shit year. The Middle East is spiralling further into violent anarchy, mainstream politics is being dragged down further into insincerity and photo opportunism, the police are desperately struggling with rafts of kneejerk new sentencing procedures and mountains of senseless paperwork, and one ill-timed cat impersonation has made George Galloway an even more creepy and ridiculous figure than he was back in 2005. In the midst of all of this, it was Jack Straw who put his finger on the main issue of the day with insight and fearless clarity. I'm talking, of course, about cloth.

But not just cloth! Straw's comment that black cloth, when worn over the face, was alienating the majority of British citizens from Muslim women sparked outrage and applause in equal measures - applause from the Daily Express, whose polls on the issue briefly threatened to make Princess Diana the second biggest non-story on the Express front page, and outrage from Muslim women who had enough problems with sarcastic townies shouting "EXTERMINATE!" at them without the government hopping on the bandwagon.

It's not often that this LJ decides the political future of one of Britain's most prominent MPs - though that will change - but this Christmas Where The Green Ants Dream is offering you, the LJ-reading public, the chance to prove Jack Straw wrong. Hidden under the niqabs below are six recognizable personalities, male and female. To Jack Straw, they're all but unidentifiable. But can you, gentle reader, identify them for a thrilling prize?

FIRST PRIZE: A weekend at a luxury bath house with Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.
SECOND PRIZE: The chance to give Michael Gove a parcel containing a boxing glove on a spring.
THIRD PRIZE: One of seven portable Yasmin Alibhai-Browns.

And now, let the games commence!
