Perturb Your Enthusiasm

There's a really disquieting article in today's Independent on Sunday which starts off being a sort of anthropological deal on why men apparently don't fancy funny women. You get part of the way through it and you realize that it's actually a dating service for female comedians, cleverly disguised as an article. Seriously. They start talking about why they can't find a man, and it's just one step away from "Likes and Dislikes". Most disturbing.

According to Lucy Porter, if your act is dirty, then people think "you are going to be really dirty in bed." I think I know what she's talking about. When I saw her act on Channel Five I thought she was shit, and ever since I've subconsciously suspected she's a coprophiliac. For the record, here are some funny women I do actually fancy: Tina Fey, Meera Syal, Sarah Silverman, Cheryl Hines, Alex Borstein, Ronni Ancona, Julia Davis and - if you're broadening the field to include actresses who are most often recognized for their comedy work - Drew Barrymore, Miranda Richardson, Anna Chancellor and Joan Cusack. At this point I realize that I've just written an article complaining about people in the Sindie hijacking an article for sexual purposes and hijacked it for sexual purposes. Some sort of new low has been reached.

But enough of such fripperies! I want new avatars, and I want you to design them for me. I have realized over time that absolutely everyone on LJ is better at this kind of thing than me, so I'm throwing this one open to the public. Design me as many as you like - they can move, have text, be funny, be sexy, be serious, represent a particular mood, anything you like, as long as they're on the following themes:

Doctor Who
Miranda Richardson
Drew Barrymore
John Peel
Larry David/Curb Your Enthusiasm
William Shakespeare/his plays

Post your efforts in the comments below. Go for it!

avatars, curb your enthusiasm, abominations of journalism, doctor who, miranda richardson, john peel, drew barrymore, shakespeare, crushes
