I turned on the radio the other morning and Davina McCall was playing what she thought was the best song about unrequited love ever written - can't remember what it was, I think it was by Bonnie Raitt. Anyway, as it ended, she whispered "Are you alright? You're going to be OK, aren't you?"

And in that moment I got a very genuine feeling of what it would be like to be Eric Clapton.

But it got me thinking - what is the best song ever written about unrequited love? And after I thought that, I thought it might be a good question to throw open to my friends. So I thought, I'll do that. Go on, have at it!

Watched Wallace and Gromit in The Curse of the Wererabbit today; 'tis indeed mighty. Other than that, little of note going on, other than to record the fact that yesterday was the best day's writing ever, seeing the completion of chapters 14, 15, 16, 28 and half of 29 of Moll Flanders. There's a scene in 29 that I promise will make Ali's cheeks glow warm with joy.

libel, cracking toast gromit, muzak, moll flanders, sex
