I have verbally accepted a new job! Woot!
I will be frontline fundraising for a new college (still at the UW) as opposed to working in an auxiliary role, have a sexy new title, some more money (gotta pay for daycare), be working ON CAMPUS (super cool) as opposed to a satellite office, but most importantly I get to telecommute every Friday - so no more battling pre-weekend traffic to get home. I can take the bus, which stops about 40 feet from the front of my new building, because they will make a motor pool or flex car available if I need it during the day to do donor visits, etc. This is all very promising!
I will be going from a HUGE office to a team of FOUR, and we are all about 20 feet away from the Dean's office. In my current role, we are lucky to see the Dean once a month. In my new office, everyone wears MANY hats. This is exciting. The college I will be working for is one of the university's oldest, and has a loyal and engaged alumni base. Plus we are in an interim period between university campaigns which means I have TONS of time to learn about the programs, meet with faculty and key volunteers, etc. before we have to ramp up again for a major fundraising push.
So now to just get the offer letter in my hands and tender my resignation with my current office. They already know, as I wanted the two week countdown to start on my first day back, which is Monday. I will be doing a part time schedule the next 2 weeks, then return full-time the day after Labor Day.
So I will spend the next two weeks going through files and purging, conducting some long-overdue performance reviews, and generally trying to avoid getting too sucked into things that will make me sad to be leaving there. I like the people I work(ed) with, but I will still be a phone call away.
And now for a HUGE SHOUT-OUT to
fragmentsofnim, who helped me tremendously through the interview process by caring for Niles. Thank you, thank you, thank you, it made all the difference to me.
