"Christian" is a pretty broad category; different denominations have very different positions on gay rights.
The Metropolitan Community Church was basically founded as a gay-friendly denomination, the Episcopalians and ELCA Lutherans are pretty gay friendly, the Methodist church threatened a major schism over the issue a year or two ago, Missouri and Wisconsin Synod Lutherans and Southern Baptists tend to be anti-gay, and there are plenty of other denominations I'm leaving out for the sake of brevity.
I am not a Christian of any stripe, but I think that homophobia is pretty obviously contrary to the teachings of Jesus. The scriptures that homophobes tend to quote are either obsolete Old Testament laws (which Christians don't follow--they eat pork and wear blended fibers) or linked to the apostle Paul, who didn't even KNOW Jesus; he's in the New Testament, but he converted to Christianity after Jesus's death and was much nastier and more narrow-minded. It's a shame he was so influential.
i totally agree with you on this one. i think they should have the right to get marriage and be happy just like everyone else. even though i am american i now live in Canada and they allow gay marriages here and i think that is great. alot of people are coming to Canada just to get married and they shouldnt have to do that. they should be able to get married where they live.
personaly and this is just my opinion, i think Bush is a totaly idot who needs to smarten up when it comes to some issues. just because he doesnt believe in something doesnt mean the whole world has to as well.
