reread the fic, and looked a bit up for wuthering heights, and read my comment and have yet more rambles to add
hopefully you're comfortable haha
So, first off, I really shouldn't rely on my 11-year-old memory for classic literature haha. Looked up on Wikipedia and realized there was a lot more to it than I had previously thought, so kudos to you for reading it. Sounds very complex and difficult but intensely fascinating.
Your fic is separate from Wuthering Heights and should be discussed so. However, if I may be so bold, I like Kris and his path loads better than Heathcliff's. Baekhyun stands her own, though Catherine is quite a multifaceted character that I think no one can really compare.
Much like The Art of Cleaving, I can't quite set a finger on the 'bad guy'. I suppose that it might be the Do's or even the then society itself, but it seems to me that Baekhyun did grow from her time at the Do household, and while it arguably snuffed out a very large part of her personality, in the end I do think her path was only fitting which is not any sort of tragedy at all. Kris may be wracked with guilt now, but I wonder if Baekhyun had stayed the same that it really would have benefited either. Thus is the consequence of writing a Victorian inspired piece in modern times: it baldly criticizes the society of that time and so has a shock factor, but it didn't smoothly translate to me as I accept that those times were just backwards and the breaking of girls' spirit was unfortunate but inevitable. However, the fall of Baekhyun still reflects on society today, which perhaps is a true tragedy.
I spent lots and lots of time giving you my thoughts on the fic itself, but none on you or your writing! This is why I shouldn't write reviews when I'm very tired. So can I just like moan and groan about how much I love your writing? Luhan's snark, Baekhyun's 'darling', Kris' speech I can just relive every line, it's beautiful. I love your writing. It's ruthless, almost, the way you draw characters, in which they are so human and imperfect and flawed and how despite being characters you breathe a life to them that I can't see how else the story could go, no matter what I want it.
Your grasp of many genres is also beautiful; from sci-fi to historical to fantasy, I've been amazed by the depth you bring all categories. The psychological/sociological implications throughout makes for an amazing read. I know I'm always in for a good ride when I stop by.
Thank you so much for receiving my ramblings so whole-heartedly ^_^ I feel sometimes I can be patronizing and seriously off-point at times, but I really like expressing all my thoughts fully of something heh. It's a rather noticeable flaw, but I seriously just can't shut up x_x I wish I could converse with you :)
Thank you also for being such an amazing and talented writer! I'm sorry my comment rate is so poor, but I promise this isn't the last you've seen of me. I've got your page bookmarked and ready for opening all day any day haha.
I wish you luck on your future endeavors!
PS are we friends? I want to call you friend. Hello, authornim, my name is Cat and I like to talk a lot as you can probably tell X)

i'm very glad you liked the way i developed the characters orz i'm always very self-doubtful about characters and plot movement so to hear that you've liked the way i wrote it makes me increDIBLY HAPPY and i'm so grateful that you've decided to write it all because the fact that someone thinks of my writing this way its just. its just a very valuable thing to have. thank you so much. i could build a whole universe out of how much this means to me.

anD ON MY WRITING I'M-breathes deeply these things that you've mentioned are basically some of my biggest goals? not only in writing for myself but things that i want to convey to other people. like i'm very big on having characters who are imperfect, or realistic, because most of my writing and my ideas come from social/ethical/psychological concepts that i want to explore anD TO SEE THAT IT CONVEYS WELL if only to a few people is incredibly gratifying i'm just
