a depressing entry

My father and I were driving to my sister's house a few weeks ago.

He asked, "What was your favorite Christmas?"

"Um.. I dunno. I don't think I really have one."

"Why not?"

"I don't really have a reason to celebrate Christmas."

"But we celebrate Christmas because of Jesus Christs' birthday."

"No, that's why you celebrate Christmas."

"Well, I'm sorry you feel that way. I really wish one day you will believe in God."

Luckily, my father was just parking the car. I swallowed my anger and [sarcastically] enjoyed an evening of allergies and denial of my father's alchoholism.

But enjoying Christmas, they all involve moments with lots of family, sneaking at my presents that sat under the fresh Christmas tree, and my neighborhood lit up Wally World style. Most of all, I enjoyed the time everyone spent Christmas together. Now my mother, sister, and I are spending Christmas here. It feels incomplete.
