I have now finally made my livejournal a little more interesting. I had no idea how to add pictures, or to make it look a little less boring. But a fellow exchange student grace helped me. I think I will update now a little more often, and add pictures and fun stuff like that.
Well I have now been in sweden for over 4 months! Things are going well and im starting to feel more at home now. I had a floorball match last night. We got SLAUGHTERED!!! we lost 13-4, but thank god it was the best team in our series. They were so good at everything they did, its like they knew where each other would be all the time. Below is my individual photo from our pictures. I was the only guy smiling!! Floorball is going well though other than our major defeat last night. I have started to get a lot better. I even scored a goal and got an assist in the game before lasts. I have been trying to get people to take pictures of me using my camera, but they have failed. The first time, my friend took almost 100 pictures, and 3 or 4 were of me and the others were of the most random things. So the next time I got a friend to take them I said please only take pictures of me. So he took about 20 of them, and still none of them were of me. So hopefully 3rd times a charm.
In sweden they have a couple christmas time celebrations that we dont have back home. The first is Lucia. I am not really sure why we celebrate it, but its pretty big here. It is celebrated on Dec.13. I guess she was a saint that was accused of witchcraft so they burned her at the stake. And now they have a celebration of that, im not really sure. And another thing they have here is Julbord. Its like a smorgasboard, but with a bunch of christmas type food. You can go back and forth as many times as you want. Usually you start out with the cold stuff, which is like herring, cheese, and more herring. Then you go back for the cold meat, then the hot meat, and finally the dessert! Here is a picture of me with my counselor, and also a picture of the actual julbord.
There are some traditions that go along with julbord. We are singing!! We sang about 8 songs in swedish that have to do with christmas, and then have a skal.(I am missing a swedish letter on the a. there should be a little circle on top of the a and it makes it sound almost like an o.) Then after we were all done eating, we had coffee and a lottery.
I have done another fun thing with the rotary. We went to a place called skansen and I got the opportunity to blow glass. It was a lot harder than it looked, but it was quite fun. I never got to keep the glass that i blew because they said it was too thin and would break easily. But it was fun anyways!
