Since I'm, apparently, arts and crafts girl lately, let's talk about my latest project.
Once upon a time, I got a cabinet. It was my grandmother's; when we cleaned her house after the alzheimer's and everything, it was the one thing I wanted. It looked like this -
I loved it, but I've always wanted to paint the thing. My mother guilt-tripped me into not, but when I moved this time, she actually looked at it, realized it was put together with, basically, scraps from the barn and said, 'Do whatever you want.'
I hemmed and hawed for a few months, thinking about colours. Dark, bright, multi-coloured? I finally decided on turquouise for the outside and cream inside. And I found the colours that were in my head with very little trouble, which I felt was a sign.
So - this was when only the outside was done.
This is from the next weekend, when the inside was finished -
(Notice my dishes still piled on my table. I basically had one plate and one bowl in the kitchen and just used those. I was deathly afraid someone was going to knock the table and send everything crashing to the ground. Fortunately, it didn't happen.)
And this is from last weekend, after the detail work and putting it all back together again -
I sort-of love it a lot.
Now I'm going to go and take advantage of the rest of my day off by cooking (I'm thinking...soup and baked apples) and watching Dawson's Creek. I scored Season 3 and the finale for under $20 the other night. I forgot how awesome/awesomely bad it was! Pacey! Joey! Die Dawson die! Andie...why? Just why? Jack before he got all weird and homophobic despite being a gay character! JEN! Aw, it's little tiny Michael Pitt before he got cooler than thou! So great.
I've also got a ton of reading to catch up on.
Speaking of -
Where She Went?
Dudes. DUDES.
If I Stay made me sob like a baby at the end there, right? I cried like, five or six times during this one. I'm not sure whether it was because I'm still ridiculously attached to the characters. Or whether it was the middle of the night (read it from 2-5). Or whether it was the fact I was still quasi-drunk (went out to shoot some pool and have a beer...which turned into several beers and much hemming and hawwing about possible new job).
I'm not sure what it was, but it hit me right where I live.
Also - I totally wore my Ravenclaw scarf this week and got such a kick out of it all day. Of course, the rest of the world is not crazy like me (and doesn't see Potter everywhere), so no one else even noticed. But it made me giggle all day.
Now I really am going to go. I have Pacey and Joey and books waiting for me!
