in slow motion the blast is beautiful

So, it's more Potter fic.

A little back story to this one - when I lived in Norfolk on the beach, there was this house about two blocks down from me. It was tiny and yellow and just...perfect. And I swear to God, the first time I ran by it, I had to stop and stare because the ONLY thing I could think was 'this is where Harry and Hermione need ( Read more... )

H/Hr fic! An excellent thing to come home to after a long day at work. I found the whole boy and girl and girl meets boy and etc. thing as Tuck tried to explain things to be amusing.

But then you look at Hermione, who is looking at him, equal parts amused and reproachful and wholly, totally devoted. And that’s the only thing you need to tell you who this is. You can’t imagine that look in her eye for anyone else.
This made me smile because Tuck could just tell based on what he knew already and how she was behaving, who he was.

♥ Thanks for sharing, parker!

Summer of '42 is a novel, later a movie, set in Martha's Vineyard. Its a coming of age story about a teenager and a woman who's husband is away at war. The narration from the outsider POV that you use reminds me of that novel.

I totally forgot that there were other pumpkins out there! Very exciting to have remembered.

And the search went well. The last place (of approximately a BAJILLION I looked at) was it; I'm super excited. Now I just have to get all the moving stuff straight. Blergh.

What a lovely little story! Great structure, the way you unwind it so torturously slowly, keeping us hanging to find out the full details of what's happening.

I was struck by two things on reading this. The first was how ... 'fresh'? ... the H/Hr relationship felt when viewed by a stranger, that outside perspective. Sort of like discovering H/Hr from first principles, from the ground up.

Secondly, this:

I’ve always felt the same about him, so how was I to know that I was in love with the git?Even now I make new discoveries about what makes H/Hr so wonderful. (Or what makes the canon so terrible, but I won't go there ( ... )

Wow - thanks!

It's funny because it totally makes sense that neither of them would realize what they felt for each other. If you've loved someone like that your entire life, you're not going to realize it. It's established, it's fact, so when you start looking at the opposite sex in that 'do they give me butterflies?' way, of course your best friend, the person you'd kill and die for, is not going to register.

For Harry, of course, the hot ginger that likes Quidditch is going to look pretty good. And you know that Hermione just knows she and Ron are supposed to make a match.

Oh, my pumpkins. They make me so sad.

(Not to mention CRAZY. *g*)
