Title: 16. Flood - Jungwoo

Jungwoo is at once afraid of everything and nothing. He used to be different, the one who cared about everyone else. But when the world started to fall apart around him, he'd found he wasn't suited to taking care of people. He wanted, longed for, someone to take care of him. He had no one.
The flood came fast and swift, erasing everything in its' path. Jungwoo, away from home and everything he held dear, was spared. His family, his parents, his home - everything was gone. This is when he lost himself.
He sits in his tiny flat, it consists of a room, a tiny bathroom and a tiny kitchen. The building he lives in is full of these flats. At night, if it's not raining, he can hear the conversations of the people around him. There are families crammed into rooms the same size as him. There are couples fucking, arguing, and generally living their life as if things were normal.
Jungwoo cannot. He goes to work, like everyone else, only he doesn't work in an office. His office doesn't exist. Instead, he toils in the sun or the rain, filling and piling sandbag after sandbag. He repairs holds in the dykes that hold the flood waters at bay until they, too, will fail. Jungwoo longs for that day.
He doesn't know Jongkook well, but one day the younger man asks Jungwoo if he's going all right. Jungwoo can see the answer hovering in front of his face, but when he opens his mouth, nothing comes out. He looks down at his lunch, provided by his work, and before he can stop himself, there are tears sliding down his cheeks.
Jungwoo rushes away from the table, but he knows it's too late, Jongkook has seen how he really is. What he doesn't expect, though, is for Jongkook to find him. To wrap his arms around Jungwoo, to hold him. He doesn't expect it, but it happens all the same.
Later, when they're in Jungwoo's tiny flat, Jongkook naked and asleep next to Jungwoo on his tiny mat that's barely big enough for both of them, Jungwoo realizes that maybe what he's been looking for all along is Jongkook. He just didn't know it, not until Jongkook found him.
