Daehyun ran his fingers over the gun in his lap, almost caressing it. But his movements were gentle and slow, almost careful. He knew the weapon he was holding, knew it by heart, but he also didn't underestimate it. It was a gun, after all, and they were designed to kill. As was he, Daehyun thought with an inward sigh.
He ached to check his phone, to see if anyone had entered the building. The alarms would've been triggered, sending a text to his phone. But he couldn't look. No, he could look, he just wasn't going to. The room he was sitting in, back against the wall, was dark. The only light came from the hallway, but it were too far away to illuminate him.
His phone vibrated, which told him everything he needed to know. He picked up the gun, wrapping a hand around it, and stood. The person, the man, he was waiting for, had entered the building. He would've followed Daehyun here, which was the plan. Outside, waiting for his signal, were the rest of his team. They'd come in later, help him with clean up.
But right now the man only wanted him.
Footsteps in the hall, getting closer. Daehyun saw the man a few moments later, he was holding a gun, too. Daehyun stepped into the shadows. He knew the tracker they stuck to his shoe was still working. He could see the man tracking him. One hand holding a gun, the other the phone that showed his location. His estimated location, that is. His tracker was in the room, but no longer on his shoe.
The man opened the door to the room, but didn't turn on the lights. Daehyun quietly pulled down his goggles, they had night vision, among other things, and flicked them on. The man stood in the doorway, squinting. Daehyun watched him look for the light switch, but it wasn't by the door. If Daehyun hadn't been concentrating so hard, he would've smirked.
There was moment when Daehyun thought maybe he could get to the man without firing a shot, but it was short lived. The man put his phone in his pocket and Daehyun had just enough time to duck out the way before the volley of bullets began. Daehyun rolled out of the way, glad to have memorized the layout of the room in addition to having the goggles.
He shot, once, then twice, but not really aiming. It wasn't until he'd stationed himself behind an overturned table that he was able to aim. The man was still firing wildly, dangerously close to hitting something important, like the windows. Daehyun knew he needed to act.
He shouted the man's name, bringing the gunfire to a halt. The man turned toward the sound and started shooting again. It took Daehyun two shots to bring him down. Five minutes later the rest of his team came in. Capture, complete.
