As usual, the candidates do not reflect my personal views and values.

Mind you, this entire quiz will be pointless soon enough. The primaries take care of most of the choices for us.

Yey partially democratic republics.

83% Mike Gravel
83% Bill Richardson
82% John Edwards
81% Barack Obama
81% Chris Dodd
78% Dennis Kucinich
76% Joe Biden

Wow. I took it too. Unsurprisingly, it leaned left (Chris Dodd, Barack Obama - top 2). Somewhat surprisingly, Ron Paul was my LAST "choice". In reflection, Ron Paul, I think, has an understanding of a lot of what is actually troubling the country, but I don't think Libertarianism is the total answer. A government that is completely "hands off" inevitably runs into situations or years like 1929. Abolishing a minimum wage, unregulating business, retracting EPA standards, and turning back the concepts of Social Security and Welfare will inevitably return the social landscape to a place where Corporations make the rules that the citizens must obey on forfeiture of a living wage (with no "safety net").

Should the government control everything? No. I think the main problem with governmental progress in any respect is the fact that Corporate Lobbyists have more of a say than general citizens do. Money does the talking in Washington now, not responsiblity to constituents. Why worry about re-elections when you get thrown money by the Lobbyists that allows you to bury the underfunded competition with TV, radio, and internet advertising.

Are Democrats the answer? No, probrably not. I think what Barack Obama really has going for him at this point (other than Oprah) is the feeling of an "outsider" with the respectability of being cross culturally electable. I think the next thing he has to do (should he continue to move forward) is be very careful whom he surrounds himself with.

P.S. Fred Thompson is a douchebag
