So this past labor day weekend, I took off in my jet plane and headed back to my home town with my sister and Dad for a wedding. I haven't been flying since about 3 years prior so I was alittle nervous taking off but the flight was actually beautiful. When we were taking off the runway, it was so much fun going fast and being plastered in your seat, it's really my favorite part. I love to go fast and feel that adrenaline rush as you get lifted higher and higher into the sky.
We arrived into O'hare airport earlier than expected and waited for my mother to come pick us up since she had already been there for 2 days visiting her friends. I stayed the night at my friend Jill's house where we played games, wrote a letter to a guy who was really trying to hard (lol), and caught up on everything that has happened over the past year. The next day my mom, sister, and myself took the subway/L to Downtown Chicago where we walked around Millenium Park. They had this neat reflecting "bean" that allowed you to take a picture of yourself infront of the sky line. Then they had two big water falls with pictures in them. It was more like a art deco type park, but it was interesting to walk through.
That night, Saturday, was the rehearsal dinner, and man was it more then dinner! They had Jumbo shrimp/portebello with chicken skewers, chop and ceaser salads, and for the main dish they served steak w/ horshradish sauce and lemon chicken breast. Also for desert, they served 4 layer chocolate cake and cheesecake. OMG! IT WAS SO GOOD! lol. The brides parents definatly shelled out alot of money for that! haha.
The wedding was at a church not far from our hotel, alittle boring but it's ok...didn't expect anything exciting to happen. lol. But what I did notice was that they didn't say "If anybody objects to this marriage, speak now or forever hold your peace." I was disappointed, I guess it only happens in the movies.
The reception was held at the Botanical Gardens and if you have ever been to Leu Gardens here in Florida it was 2x better then that! It was a beautiful night for that type of setting. She had everything I wanted in a wedding reception. It over looked a nice lake underneath a white tent. The tables were set with pale green cloths, white folding chairs, candles towards the middle of the table with light and lively flowers in the center. A trio band played simple contemporary music as the bride and groom were introduced. I loved it and was very envious. She looked gorgous and they seem so happy together.
I returned to Florida though with a bad stomach ache and a headache to match around 10:45 Monday evening. Thankfully I didn't have to go to school the next day. I am happy that I got to visit chicago once again, but I have ruled out every moving back. Maybe it's because I have gotten so used to the Florida lifestyle.
Hope everybody had a fun labor day weekend!
hugs,
Kimberly
