My surgery was yesterday, and I am doing pretty good. I can't complain too much. Thanks for the slurpee last night Amy!
When I got there, at 8:30am, they took me back to the pre-op room, then I waited to go into surgery, which was supposed to be at 9:30am because they had changed it once to from 1:30pm to 9:30am. The nurse got all this info from me, then she TRIED to put my IV in. She couldn't do it when she had already poked me twice, so another nurse comes in and gets the IV in with no problem whatsoever. Luckily, they numbed it where the IV was going in, so it didn't hurt too bad. They had to do a pregnancy test too...lol. I'm like can't they just ask? That isn't possible for me by any way, shape or form. Come to find out, 10:45 rolls around and my mom starts complaining because shes diabetic. Well, they changed my surgery time yet again, to 11:15am, without telling us, so I waited around in the hospital bed. Then my doctor comes down, and tells us that he has an emergency upstairs with a little boy whose tonsals(sp) won't stop bleeding. No big deal. That isn't something we could have controlled. Once my doctor came back downstairs, he told the people after me that it would be about an hour. They got all pissy and wanted to leave, so he had to discharge me. Finally, I get to go into surgery at guess what time? 1:30pm. Wearing those little gowns for that long can be so violating in so many ways, let me tell you. I was so hungry and thirsty, and of course they gave my mom something to drink right in front of me! lol Anyway, got into the OR, and they wrapped me up like a little caccoon, then the anestisologist was like this may burn and sting a bit, and my nurse was like like lawyers? and he's like yea! They burn and sting you all the time, then I passed right out.
Once I woke up in post-op, which took about 45 minutes, I kept trying to push the bandages off my nose lol. I don't even remember it but I guess they kept telling me no. My throat itched so bad from the anestetics from before. Yuck! Once the room stopped spinning, I was moved into this recliner chair and taken to post-op part 2 where I finally got to see my mommy again. I sat there for a bit while they took my IV out and changed my bandages. So yea, I had to go the bathroom, and she's like ok, let's get you up. It was like talking steps for the first time all over again because my head was still spinning. Getting dressed was an even funnier event. But, I got popsicles! lol
The only pain that I have really had was when I was sitting in post-op 2. It felt like someone had punched me in the nose. Other than that, I have just slept and I feel great. Nothing that I can complain too much about. Like I was telling my mom in the post-op room, a little pain to fix all the problems is fine with me.
Sorry that it is so long. You don't have to read it if you don't want to, but it would be nice to know if you did. If not, that's chill too.
