Too Much Room in My Bed - Jack/Liz, PG

May 06, 2010 21:57

Fandom: 30 Rock
Pairing: Jack/Liz
Spoilers: None…it’s AU.
Prompt: ham_napkin : bed sharing, plane crash, remember me
Rating: PG
Author’s Note: Jack, Liz and Jack’s glasses are not mine, don’t sue. Title is from the Springsteen song “You’re Missing”. My first 30 Rock fic and it’s a bummer.

What she misses most about him:

His voice: The way he could make anything sound sexy. The feel of words rumbling in his chest against her cheek when they laid in bed. The serious way he talked to Leah after she was born, refusing to use baby-talk. It only took her first smile in his presence to reduce him to cooing over her.

His genuine laugh (not his work laugh, which could be annoying): The way his eyes crinkled as he let out a big belly laugh. When she thinks about this part of him, the first memory that comes to mind is when Leah was two and said “son of a bitch” after Eli decided to teeth using one of her Barbie doll’s legs. Liz was too busy trying to stifle her own laugh to keep Leah from realizing that she greatly amused her daddy by swearing at her baby brother.

His glasses: She once told him he couldn’t tease her about her Palin glasses because she had seen him in his Buddy Holly frames. She cringes at the thought now that a plane crash is what took him from her and their children. She wishes, among other things, that she could go back in time and not make that reference. That should could have just rolled her eyes at his teasing and kiss him until he had no choice but remove the nerdy glasses.

His smell on the sheets: She’s been letting Leah and Eli sleep in their - her - bed with her. She has a feeling the kids are doing it more for her benefit than theirs. And one day, she’ll tell them it’s time to go back to their beds. One day, she’ll be able to sleep in the king-sized bed alone.

One day she’ll forget his smile, the feel of his hands on her body, the blueness of his eyes. She pulls her children closer against her and prays that day never comes.
