A post about posting, and a request for criticism.....

We made another post on Chronic Masterbakers!

Have a read of our most recent post: Very UnDairy, our trials and tribulations on making our very first completely dairy-free cake.

Until FormerRoomie and I figure out the best way to develop our foodie blog and how to get our posts out to the people who may be most likely to enjoy reading them, I'm going to continue to cross-post a link here.

Any constructive criticism is appreciated. Any awesome suggestions about how we can get the word out is also appreciated.
Our budget hovers around the $0.00 mark, so it's been a real research challenge finding promotion methods that are based more on word-of-mouth and trying to find that tipping point that helps us "go viral", other than spending advertising dollars on what is essentially a free foodie blog.

We're following many of the "10 Tips for writing an effective blog post", which, according to Problogger.net are:
  1. Make your opinion known (no problem there!)
  2. Link like crazy (we currently link only to our own posts, but as we get better and reach others we'll start linking to outside bloggers and websites))
  3. Write less (yeah...I'm the culprit there....I'm a little, erm, chatty)
  4. 250 Words is enough (see #3)
  5. Make Headlines snappy (working on it)
  6. Write with passion (we're passionate about baking!)
  7. Include Bullet point lists (need to do more of those)
  8. Edit your post (I over-edit! I hate typos and grammatical mistakes)
  9. Make your posts easy to scan (i presume this means a "quick read" as opposed to a scanner; working on it)
  10. Be consistent with your style (I think we're developing our style; half informational, half snarky-funny)
  11. Litter the post with keywords (this one we'll have to work on a little more)
Anything anyone would add to or remove from that list?

blogging, baking
