But, I also know that people can manipulate the world in ways we don't understand yet, and that symbolism has a purpose. Sometimes it helps us to focus the energies/direction in our lives if we have a clear picture to look at.
I had a dream once, and then read a book in which I saw the picture of the woman in my dream (uh, 16 years ago). That, along with some other "spiritual experiences" I've had, have led me to a place where I am comfortable focusing my energy in an Egyptian flavor. I dig it.
Mind you, I'm not going to be mummified when I die. I don't believe that Ra is an old beardy-headed guy in the sky, or that the woman who became known as Isis actually had wings. I do believe that a lot of deities and lesser deities were glorified Real People. I see Egyptian mythos as an extension of Egyptian culture, and their metaphor seems a little clearer to me than other lores do.
Wow, that's really long, disjointed, and doesn't even begin to touch on what I want to say. Meh. I do appreciate you asking, though. :)
