HEY HEY I have news everyone, come care with me!

I love how my brain works.

I'll spend 9 months barely functioning, my head plodding on more and more slowly until implosion.

Then I'll get all scrappy and pull myself together with shoestrings and gum, and try to make magic with it.

Went camping*. The mountains always have a deeply calming, restorative, and fully positive effect on me. Andandand (this is related, really) I've been wracking my brain for years trying to figure out how to effectively get into a career field that was satisfying, engaging, and involved travel, and was, preferably, a fair bit full of OUTDOORS. The point being, I love the outdoors.
(Er.. when the outdoors are not swamps. Sorry, swamps, other people will love you. Try not to take it hard, yeah?)

Somehow, the earth sciences have escaped my cognizance ALL THIS TIME.
GAAAAAH.

So now I'm in a place where I'm seriously considering using that GI Bill to pursue an ecology program. Since all the natural science fields appear to be highly interdisciplinary it seems likely I could drift off into all sorts of enjoyable intriguing arenas, while holding Naturalist/Park Ranger close to my heart as back-up/hearts-desire/fuck-off possibility. Among others.
This works for me. A lot.
...I wonder, actually, did I ever mention I collect fungus pictures? I have for years. Hundreds and hundreds of photos of different fungi. For fun. I get deeply, ridiculously excited when I spot a specimen I don't think I've collected a photo of.
Yet Naturalist never occurred to me as a viable option. Hah.

And! Also! If I don't totally suck at life, I might even be able to consider glaciology as more than an impossible dream that would someday let me truly experience Antarctica. <3
Not that that's the ONLY further interest, but I really fucking love ice. Which sounds weird when I just say it, sort of. XD

Oh, yeah, in other news, Lex got orders - we're finally fleeing the damp, insect-encrusted grasp of Mississippi!... to Minot. Minot, Fucking North Dakota. Joy.
Least it's close to Canada? Um... ICE! <-- aw yuss, look at that optimism

*I'll post about the BEAUTIFUL FLAWLESS AMAZING CAMPTACULAR CAMPSTRAVAGANZA later, when I have pics to go with, but not right now because I never have important stuff to post, and this is super-huge ultra-big stuff for me, k? So camping stories later. With pictures. I can't do pics now anyway, because my card reader won't read the new camera card, so I can't access them yet, so in sum: rawrgleblarghle all this elderly tech. And a great big fie on social responsibility making it so hard to update my computer stuff. Stop being horrible exploitative human rights abusers already, component manufacturing companies, hel needs a new rig! grumblegrumble.
