Here it is. The big finale. The very last chapter of Caro. Whew! What a ride it's been. I don't know about you, but I've had a great time posting this ( Read more... )

Thank you so much for enjoying this story as much as you have. Right from the beginning. I've enjoyed all your comments.

It is kind of sad to think of Benvolio alone. But on the bright side, in this story, he gets forty more years with Mercutio than he would have gotten in Romeo and Juliet. He had all the memories of what was for that time a long lifespan, and he had the foundling home to take him in for his last years. I think, all things considered, he had a good life.

How long did it take me to finish it? Good question. Let me go check . . . I started writing probably July 9, and I seem to have finished the first draft around November 7. That was when I had all twenty-eight chapters complete, so four months for the first draft. I made minor revisions and rewrites all through the posting process. Usually, the day before each new chapter was to go up, I'd go back and look at the chapter and make minor revisions. So, basically, this took me four months to write.

I'm kind of sad that it's over, too. I'm thinking that a prequel or some side stories might not be a bad idea. Whaddaya think?

I'd be up for either a prequel or side stories... or both!

I'm such a sucker for Romeo and Juliet fic, and there's a limited amount of quality out there. I find FanFiction.net to be very hit or miss. There's only so many 750 word "journal" entries I can take! :)

Well, I'll see what I can come up with. I think I'll give it a rest for at least a few weeks, though. I have to finish the quarter and have surgery, after all.

More miss than hit, I'd say. And at least half of them claim to be writing for their English classes. Seeing what they churn out makes me want to write another installment for my English class . . .
