After 5 weeks at the hospital, Aiba was finally discharged. He had to come in every week for follow up treatment, but he was cleared to be sent home. Still in pain, Aiba was deep in thoughts. Him and Sho haven't really talked much since he was on respirator for good amount of time and Sho seemed to be rather distant and deep in thoughts, as much as he was attentive and caring to Aiba.
But feeling guilty to have Sho take care of him, Aiba could not ask what Sho had in his mind.
It was the night before discharge. Aiba was thinking if he should go back to his folks for the time being, when Sho started to pack Aiba's belongings and started talking, his back turned to Aiba.
'I bought a new legless chair with back support and a new futon set, made out of special material that's supposed to hold the body shape very well. Also installed some handles in the bathroom so it is safer and easier for you. And bought one more portable heater. And-'
'Sho-chan?' Aiba had to interrupt.
Sho turned a little, just enough for Aiba to catch a glimpse of pink blush in Sho's cheek. It was spreading down his neck.
'You are coming to stay with me for the rest of your medical leave. You got a problem?' Sho turned his head sharply and resumed packing madly. Unable to hold the happiness and excitement in, Aiba called Sho again.
'Sho-chan, Sho-chan. We can pack tomorrow morning. Come here.' Shifting so that both his feet dangled from the side of his bed, Aiba beckoned Sho with open arms. Sho stopped shoving cloths into the bag and slowly walked towards Aiba, not looking at him at all. Aiba hugged Sho as much as he could with his aching ribs and right arm and placed a kiss on the temple.
'I could never do better than that. I would love to follow you home.'
'...Sometimes you can be quite corny, you know.' Sho pouted.
'And sometimes you are so irresistibly adorable that I just wanna bite you.' Aiba grinned.
'You wouldn't-'
'Yes, and I will.' Even with a bigger grin, Aiba gently bit Sho's left cheek and pecked on the spot.
'You-!' Turning into even deeper shade of pink, he carefully wriggled out of the hug and resumed packing again in silent. Aiba just sat there, looking at Sho with such expression that as if he could start to drool at any moment.
They finally arrived at Sho's place. Aiba never felt this happy to be back to a place called 'home'. When he was basking in the pure happiness, Sho suddenly stopped and stood in the middle of the living room silently after he put down that bag. His shoulder started to tremble a little. Heads down, he clenched his hands tightly before he suddenly grabbed Aiba at the collar of the jacket roughly.
'DON'T YOU EVER DO THIS TO ME AGAIN!!! I THOUGHT I WAS GONNA LOSE YOU AGAIN!' Breaking into violent sob, Sho yelled and buried his face into Aiba's crook of neck. Sho's trembling transferred to Aiba's body, shooting pain from head to toe. Hugging Sho as tight as he could with his good arm, Aiba breathed in Sho's scent and whispered.
'I am not going anywhere. I love you Sho-chan. I love you so much. I am sorry for making you worry.'
'Don't go anywhere. Swear to me that you will always be with me.' Sho spoke so softly between his sobs against the skin of Aiba's neck that it was almost inaudible.
'I told you. That I cross my heart and hope to die. You will have to kill me if you want me gone.' Aiba smiled and raised Sho's chin. Sho started to hiccup.
'You never cease to be cute, you know that?' Aiba wiped tears off Sho's face with his thumb and kissed him until the grip on his jacket loosened.
The next morning, Aiba was woken up with a soft feeling on his lips.
'.......?' Sho was placing little kisses on the corner of his lips endlessly. Aiba felt surge of warmth and pulled Sho down with his left arm.
'This is the first time you kissed me after we met again.' He spoke against Sho's lips.
'I know.' He kissed on the lips this time.
'And I am gonna take advantage of it.' Aiba pulled Sho down again and kissed until Sho had to support himself on both of his arms. Giving up on getting up to set the table for breakfast, Sho just lay on his stomach next to Aiba and started to touch him from head, down to chest. With his palm firm on Aiba's chest, he stared and stared.
'What is it, Sho-chan?' Aiba stared back at him with love.
'It feels surreal. We are gonna live together again. It may be just 2 months, but it feels weird.'
'Yes. But it also feels right to me.'
'...I am not gonna say yes to that yet.' Sho buried his face in his arm.
'Than I shall need to work on it so that you will say 'I agree' as soon as possible' Aiba stroked Sho's hair.
'....Ne, do you remember calling me 'sweetheart', from time to time?'
'Of course I do. Cus you are my sweetheart.' Aiba kept on stroking Sho's hair. He thought to himself that Sho really felt like a puppy at the moment.
'...I will let you call me sweetheart today.'
'Yeah? My my, where does this generosity comes from?' Aiba grinned.
'...Shut up. Take it or leave it.'
'I will take it. But only if you call me Ma-kun once. Now.'
'..........kun.'
'Hmmmm? What did you say?' Aiba grinned even wider.
'Get up now or no breakfast, Ma-kun!' After shouting it into the futon, Sho shoot right up and left the room hurriedly as if he was escaping.
They were not officially back together yet, but Aiba felt like things are on the right track now. All he, no, all they need now is a one final push to seal the deal.
