notes. I don't know where this came from but I needed to get it out of my system.
The sound of rain hitting the roof brought Kibum out of his sleep. He shifted, pulling the comforter further over his head, cozying into Jonghyun's side and making him stir. They were both awake now, Jonghyun yawning and lazily sitting up, poking Kibum.
"Hey kitty, looks like we can't go to the park today." he murmured at Kibum, who glanced up at him and shut his eyes again, trying to ignore the pelting rain.
An hour and two cups of coffee later, Kibum contemplated what to do while Jonghyun watched the muted television in the living room. Another hour, they were in their car driving in the direction of town.
They left the car in an out-of-the-way parking garage and hurried out of the rain, heading into a little roofed street lined with shops. They wandered past the store fronts, aimlessly, glancing at the trinkets or clothing inside, Kibum waiting for Jonghyun when he found something interesting to look at and poked the glass excitedly like a child. The held hands after a while, trying to warm each other up. Kibum hid his nose under the collar of his pea coat and Jonghyun offered to stop somewhere to escape the cold.
They slipped into a cozy, old cafe just off the main street. The dimly lit interior held a centuries-old air, decorated with white columns, ornate frames and golden cherubs. It reminded Kibum of the palace of Versailles, and he smiled a little, taking off his coat and hanging it neatly on the back of his chair. They sat at a table in a corner of the cafe, instantly lowering their heads and falling into a quiet murmur, like the other anonymous patrons of this place. Jonghyun ordered for them: a hot chocolate for himself and a coffee, two sugars, for Kibum.
They shared a slice of cake, forks lightly hitting each other as they fought for the last piece. Kibum let Jonghyun win, watching the goofy smile on his face as he took the final piece in his mouth, chasing it down with his hot chocolate and burning his tongue in the process.
Before returning to the car, they decided to stop by a fountain in the middle of a plaza, Jonghyun convincing Kibum to give him a coin to throw in. Kibum watched as Jonghyun tightly closed his eyes and rubbed the coin in his palms before tossing it into the water.
"What did you wish for?"
He was answered with a childish smile and a fleeting kiss on his lips.
"Forever."
