Happy Hallowe'en

Happy Hallowe'en, to any of you who celebrate it in some way! I have a fondness for Hallowe'en, for some reason. Germany doesn't really have much of a tradition of it, so I'm not sure if I'll get any trick-or-treaters or not, but I have some sweeties in a bowl just in case, and if not, well, I'm sure they won't go to waste. *coughs* Maybe later on I will don a black dress and my awesome wig and light lots of candles or something. I was going to carve a lantern, but the pumpkins in my supermarket didn't look very encouraging, and neither did the turnips (where I grew up we did turnip lanterns rather than pumpkins), so I bought a little pumpkin-shaped thing that lights up when you put a candle inside it. It's not the same, but better than nothing.

The other exciting thing is NaNoWriMo starting at midnight, eep. I'm quite nervous about Nano this year - I didn't decide to do it until really late, and I still haven't figured out what I want to write. This will be my fifth year doing it, wow. I've mostly really liked the fics I've written for it in the past, so fingers crossed I come up with something I'll like again this year. Good luck to all of you doing it or a mini Nano!

I've been quite down this week - just one of those times when it feels like whatever I do is wrong and my confidence deserts me, so I've been withdrawing into my shell a bit. Even closed my door at work one day, and normally I have a wide-open-door policy. Oh well, it'll pass eventually, these things usually do, but in the meantime I'm a bit quiet and boring.

The highlight of my week was my sister and my brother-in-law visiting! \0/ I haven't seen them since the wedding in the summer, and it was lovely to have them here, even if it did mean tidying up the flat from the disaster zone it had become. My brother-in-law (heee, I still get such a kick out of saying that; he finds calling me sister-in-law just as entertaining, haha) did German back in high school and got adorably excited everytime he managed to say a word or two or understand something someone said. They did a lot of sightseeing while I was at work and seemed to have a great time. I told them to feel free to come back anytime; I don't really see enough of my family.

Right, time to get ready for the trick-or-treaters! *rubs hands together* And deciding roughly what I want to write might be a good thing in the next six hours or so, ahaha. Do the rest of you who're doing Nano know what you're writing?
