Popoli, Ryan, I have the cookbook!  Fantastic stuff.  Now to decide a menu....

1.  Pudding, yes
2.  No soussed hog face, please.  And I don't think millers...right.
3.  Drinks?
4.  When?
[Not completely all together this morning.]

I'll be home this weekend (through Monday night) but I know Di will be in the city Sat (and I have plans Sat night too...). Fri I won't be home till ~8. I plan to go back to school Tues afternoon/evening. Then my next time is Thanksgiving break, which I'll have to get back to you on cause I don't know what my family's plans are yet.

um, I'm with the "no soused hog's face"

they also drink, hm, maderia and port? and a few others? never had any of them. I suppose we could get some nonalcoholic stuff if we want a nonalcoholic option besides water. I know I wasn't planning to drink as much as they do (which is a lot!!) so I don't particularly need another option as I'm good to drive home on a glass of wine or so taken with food. And I'm not that far away if I wanted to ask for a ride from someone (ie, my family). So that's a long-winded way of saying, I don't care ;)

It'll probably be at my godparents' place... which will be good, since if I try anything really interesting, someone's going to have to carry me upstairs.

The plan at the moment is to be in Philly Sunday afternoon, BUT I have a particular person to see (don't I, dear).

Thanksgiving is looking alot more interesting (though it WILL be crazy crowded at the Tyrees). The weekend before Thanksgiving is a possablity, as they're all going to a wedding. How easy is it for you to get here then, Popoli?

Ah! There may not be a particular need for a non-alcoholic option then. I brought it up mainly because I associated you with evangelicalism, which I associate with not drinking alcohol (probably due to being from Baptist-land :-) ).

You being Popoli and not me, I assume :)

But for my sake, I believe that the purchase of grape juice will be necessary

Yes, Di of the I-take-3-sips-of-my-martini-and-go-red-in-the-face. Forgot about that till we talked tonight :)

You're right to associate me with evangelicalism, but these days (at least among my friends and acquaintances) that doesn't mean not drinking, it means not getting DRUNK.

Cases in point:
1) we serve wine for communion (though grape juice is also available)
2) I just finished a Rum & Coke

"You're right to associate me with evangelicalism, but these days (at least among my friends and acquaintances) that doesn't mean not drinking, it means not getting DRUNK."

Good! In line with most other Christians, then.

I think my impressions are biased by being from Kentucky, where evangelicalism is dominated by Southern Baptists, who are almost exclusively anti-alcohol.

I see. No, I'm presbyterian. Which has probably been anti-alcohol in the past, but the OPC (at least) isn't anymore.

Orthodox Presbyterian Church? Interesting! I hadn't encoutnered it before. How does it relate to other conservative Presbyterian churches, like the PCA?

I actually have drank a glass of wine, without any ill effects, even if it was a rather cheap one
[reminds me: do you have any idea how much 1 1/2 pounds of fois gras costs?]
