Title: The Last Showdown

Warnings: Spoilers for the whole series, and major character death. This is not a happy tale.
It took me a few moments to find Willow at the airport. She was waiting at the wrong gate. I came up behind her and tapped her on the shoulder. She jumped and looked up at me.
“Kennedy has the car,” she said. “She's off at - The taxi line is this way.”
“Yeah,” I said.
The taxi was old, but well-cared-for.
“Onde?” asked the driver.
“Sheraton,” I said.
“Did you take care of Clarice?” asked Willow.
“Yeah.”
“What happened?”
“I shocked her straight.”
“Good,” said Willow. “That's good.”
“Yeah.”
“No witches this time?”
“No witches.”
She fell silent again until we arrived at the bright green lawn outside the Sheraton. The porter looked vaguely familiar, but I couldn't place him.
“Is it hard?”
“Is what hard?”
“What you do.”
“No,” I said. “You use their strength against them. It's all very Zen.”
“Oh.”
She helped me get my bags out of the back.
“What did she do?”
“Who?”
“Clarice.”
“Dunno. Giles signs the paychecks, I just work here.”
“Oh.”
The vaguely familiar-looking porter pulled out what looked like a water pistol and fired a beam at Willow, then jumped over the bushes. I chased him. It's what I do.
“I don't know why I'm running,” he said, coming to halt and facing me.
“I could tell you, but then I'd have to kill you,” I said.
“Bet you didn't expect to see me again, huh?”
I peered at him.
“Who are you again?”
“Oh, come on,” he said. “I wrecked some pretty major shit back in the day. Warren. Remember?”
“I never really knew you all that well,” I said. “That a Toth beam?”
“I engineered it myself,” he said proudly. “I'm going to -”
“I'm sorry,” I said.
“Huh?”
I shot him. He stared down at his chest, then collapsed awkwardly on his side. The bright Brazilian sun was like a halo on his face. He looked surprised. They always do.
Then something hit me on the back of the head and I lost interest in things for a while.
