They're rebooting the Buffy the Vampire Slayer franchise.

It's less awesome than it sounds. The people who are doing the rebooting only have the rights to the movie, so say goodbye to the supporting characters, who were of course 99% of the reason why anyone watched the TV series. And Whedon isn't involved, which is fine, but that also means that his writing staff and casting directors presumably won't be involved, and neither will his personal connections to the TV series' actors. So basically it's a vampire movie starring a teenage girl in high school.

It's fairly obvious why they chose this particular moment for that concept.

The one good part is that it's a reboot, so it won't affect the canon. Not that I would mind affecting the canon if it got rid of the last two seasons.
