nothing to get excited about yet, but...

this past week i worked on a lady's computer for her. it ended up taking a fair bit longer than i had anticipated, she had quite a few strange things going on with it. however, after two nights of going over there and working on it, i got it back into the state she wanted it in, and working properly with a brand new anti-virus program (hers was a commercial one, but was causing her computer to run VERY slowly!) and a firewall (which she didn't have before). i'm quite honestly astounded that i didn't find any viruses on her computer, because she has a cable modem and she's connected directly to the internet, not through a NAT router which would keep her quite a bit safer from virus infection and hacking. at any rate, she was happy with the job i did, she paid me a fair amount of money for what i did i think, and she also mentioned that the place she's working is hiring quite a few people right now including some computer people. she said the job may not be quite what i'm looking for, but that there are a lot of positions and they have full benefits and pretty decent pay. so *MAYBE* i'll have a foot in the door there with an honest to goodness, real live job! i'm not getting my hopes up just yet, this is all very recent information and all, and i'm not sure if she has any influence there over who gets hired for what, but it sure is a lot more promising that anything i've had so far! so wish me luck, pray for me, or anything else you can do... it's all welcome here!

i think that's all i'm going to write for now. except for one very important thing to me.
