If you're going to have a large family, be honest that you are doing it for selfish reasons and that there are moral issues with having a large family. I was just struck by how selfish and bigoted these people's justifications for having large families were. The religious-justification asside, they didn't even bother to consider the environmental impact they were having by having so many children or how little resources they are able to provide per kid and the ethical issues that go along with having so many kids that you can't provide a good future for each of them. There's also the blatant bigotry of deciding that they have to out-breed people of a different ethnic and religious group than them just because they don't agree with their religion and/or are racist. And, buried within all of this is the message that women have to stay home, not work, and be pregnant all of the time. A woman's body is not meant to have a lot of kids, and each pregnancy takes a toll on her body. There's an obvious message here that it isn't okay for people to decide their own lifestyles and find what works for them. You have to fit into this specific mold of the male-dominated marriage and being expected to have kids. Our society, and the planet on a whole, cannot survive with a universal mindset like that.
