I generally try to avoid things like actually drawing blood during a spar and I've tried a number of different ways of deciding when to end it, such as being in a position to land a killing blow, fighting until both parties are too exhausted to continue, things like that.

...One thing I will have to insist on is that your Curse Seal does not come into this.

I doubt I would resort to that in a sparring match in the first place, but might I ask why?
