culture shock
1) heat. over-whelming atlanta heat.
2) NO spanish. not even on the intercom or warnings/airport announcements.
3) a poor lanky adolescent saying, in a thick southern accent, "i want some dark coffee."
4) my parents.
5) my dogs.
6) new england summer and summer rain.
7) realizing springfield is not what i imagined it to be.
8) job hunting.
9) not speaking spanish.
10) meeting a wonderful woman who wants to make springfield a great cultural scene.
11) having someone who shares my artistic goals.
12) doubting my ability to handle working.
13) new york city. strangely, it's diversity overwhelmed me, just by seeing a whole lot of asian-americans walking on the street, saying 'like' five hundred times in a sentence.
14) my friends. what a great feeling to see them.
15) the uncertainty of the near future, what i should be doing versus what i want to be doing versus what i will be doing.
16) going out to eat a lot.
this is ending on an even number, but an odd place to end list...top 16? can you do that? me siento apretado en el pecho...i feel tight in my chest...i wonder how long this will take before i begin to relax and settle?
