Minneapolis bike folk-- help?
I have 3 bikes in my garage(I have no idea what kind or specs they are- one is definitely really old and klunky, one is newer and more up to date), but I would like to get one of them up and running.
I am not familiar with biking in Minneapolis at all, so I need help with gear, rules, etc. I've mapped out a couple of routes that are almost exclusively bike paths, but I don't want to be an uneducated idiot with traffic or sharing the path with other bikers/joggers.
Can I take all three bikes to a shop and have them recommend which one I should use? Where should I go?
What kind of gear do you recommend? I would like this to become something that I do regularly for both function (going to the grocery store, etc.) and fun, so having the ability to carry things would be really useful. Helmet? Gloves? What kind of bike lock?
Where can I go to learn etiquette, both on the road and the paths?
Any other recommendations, things I need to consider?
