fun stuff from my dad
I got a neat package from my dad in the mail yesterday.
I got:
okra pickles (YUMMY!)
candy (including jelly smushed rats and a cow pez dispenser)
a swearing bear (lots of swears-- very funny)
some really interesting books, which I'm going to forget all of the titles of but I'll try:
Bitter with Baggage Seeks Same: the Life and Times of Some Chickens
*this book is very very funny. I will try to post some excerpts here later.*
Gahan Wilson's Monster Collection
I'm surprised that I'm not already familiar with this illustrator-- much like Charles Addams-- very dark, macabre, but a little more in your face... very enjoyable.
Use this book!
haven't really had a chance to fully look at this one yet, but it does seem to serve an all-purpose "I have a question" kinda deal.
We got a couple more-- one which was a really neat sci-fi folk art combo picture book....
And aaron got his old winter jacket back-- my dad sewed up and fixed all of the torn button holes (it's a very old carhart, his favorite, and was falling apart to the point that he couldn't get it to stay buttoned up-- when Aaron left it in AR last fall, my dad decided to fix it and mail it back as a new year gift-- really really neat gift.)
also: I start school today! yay!
