I loathe daylight savings time.

Bah!

in an agrarian culture where so much of our lives and livelihoods revolved around farming in the daylight hours, yes, there is a use for it

but today, as mechanized and detached we are from the earth and our need of it, it has become unnecessary. we have electricity for light and heat, greenhouses for growing plants, machines for milking cows, and other conveniences that get the job done in SO much less time than it took when we'd have to get up before dawn to accomplish anything before we lost our daylight.

I support abolishing Daylight Savings Time. I never had to deal with this crap in Saskatchewan, and THAT's a more daylight-dependent farming community than BC...

How have you been, btw? I haven't kept in touch with the House of Couches since Michelle and Tony moved out around x-mas. Hope you and Matty are doing well.

The famous agrarian cultures cited by many in support of DST rose and retired with the sun, not by the clock. For some reason, supporters of DST insist that it exists for the sake of the farmers. Farmers have been interviewd and say they don't care for DST. Cows like consistent schedules.

I agree with you re the abolishment of DLS. But I don't believe Benjamin Franklin suggested it in order to support agriculture. As it is, 5:00 DST arrives at 4:00 Standard Time, which is the hottest part of the day in Summer. It's simply a trial. If I want more natural daylight, I'm perfectly capable of getting up early in order to have it.

More BAH!

We are very fine, by the way.
